If you’re looking for a fun getaway for the family you will love Magnolia Market at the Silos! It’s the perfect combination of shopping, family entertainment, and delicious food! Plus, there are a ton of other fun things to do in Waco with kids to fill your time!

We were looking for a quick, family-friendly retreat for spring break. We recently subscribed to Discovery+ to catch up on the latest happenings with the Gaines family and Fixer Upper on their new Magnolia Network (I’ve since found SO many other awesome shows to watch and it’s totally worth the $6.99/mo!).

We all loved when Chip and Joanna Gaines announced the silos project when they were still on HGTV.

In one of their new episodes on Magnolia Network they introduced the additions they were making to the silos in Waco, TX. Eric and I went a few years ago when it was just the main store, the garden shop, and the bakery.

We thought it would be fun to make another trip to Waco, this time with the kids in tow, to see all the new features in Magnolia Market at the Silos!

Magnolia at the Silos

KEEP READING for everything you need to know to plan a trip to the silos including where to stay, the best times to go, family activities, a list of amenities, and other fun things to do while in Waco!

Where to Stay in Waco, TX

There are tons of options when looking for a place to stay in Waco. Chip and Jo have three different vacation rentals you can book including the Carriage House and Magnolia House from season 3!

Check the Magnolia homes out here!

There are also homes that they remodeled for clients on the show that are now available on sites like airbnb. Check out the booking details for the houseboat they remodeled in season 9!

If you’re looking for a home to rent there are other fantastic and affordable options on VRBO

There are also tons of hotels near Magnolia Market at the Silos with included amenities like indoor/outdoor pools, workout rooms, and more.

Magnolia Table

If you’re heading to the silos you don’t want to miss out on Magnolia Table! Chip and Jo opened this fun diner toward the end of their last season on HGTV.

They serve breakfast and lunch and it is delicious! If you’re planning ahead, you’ll want to go ahead and make reservations. You can make them up to four weeks in advance.

Make reservations HERE.

We didn’t know you could make reservations until about a week out and they were already completely booked so make sure you reserve early!

If you miss out on making a reservation then I recommend you show up as soon as they open at 7am or even a few minutes before in case there’s a line. We showed up at 7am and only had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table.

The food was amazing! We recommend the crunchy french toast and biscuits and gravy! If you’re not able to make it to the diner, they also have a food truck at the silos!

Magnolia Market at the Silos

The Magnolia Market at the Silos hours are from 9am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and they are closed on Sunday. The best time to get there is right when they open or late in the afternoon.

We arrived just before 9am to find a parking spot and were walking into the entrance for the shops right when they opened. There was hardly anyone there and we were able to enjoy a couple of hours before it really started getting busy.

Magnolia Shoppes

The Magnolia Shoppes is one of the latest additions to the grounds and consists of 6 small boutique-like shops in a beautiful courtyard. There are three shops on either side of the courtyard all consisting of various products you can only find in store.

At Chapter One you can find books and paper goods such as stationary. At Vie Bien Aimee they offer luxurious bath and body products.

No. 16, which specializes in men’s provisions, was our favorite store! My youngest son picked out a football and my oldest son picked out a wiffle ball set and a baseball.

At Juniper and Crew, named after Chip and Jo’s youngest son, you can find darling children and baby products.

Tried and True carries beautiful leather bags and trendy jewelry and Reverie carries women’s clothing.

The Old Church

At the back of the courtyard of Magnolia Market at the Silos there’s a beautiful church that was relocated to the silo grounds. Built in 1894, it’s one of Waco’s oldest structures. It was originally Second Presbyterian Church, but had been abandoned for over 30 years.

It is beautiful! The craftsmanship that went into restoring this church is something you don’t want to miss and the old church bell they shipped in from New York is a must-see!

Katy Ballpark

This was our favorite new addition! Katy Ballpark originally opened in 1905 and was the home field for several local baseball teams. The ballpark even hosted an exhibition game for the New York Yankees and legends like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played there!

wiffle ball park

A tornado destroyed the field in the 50s and it was eventually turned into a parking lot. But it’s been revived by Chip and Jo and turned into a wiffle ball field for families and friends to enjoy together!

Our family had a blast playing a few rounds of wiffle ball and our kids made us promise we’d find a baseball field close by that we could play at when we got home!

Magnolia Home

You can now browse and purchase Jo’s line of furniture on site at Magnolia at the Silos! They have a location on the grounds with their latest designed selections.

A few years back we purchased our headboard and dresser from the Magnolia Home line which was carried by Nebraska Furniture Mart. Overall we’ve been really happy with the quality and you can read my review of the furniture here

Magnolia Press

When you’re done browsing the Magnolia Market at the Silos furniture store you can make your way around to Magnolia Press, the new coffee shop! Or you can start there since they open at 7am and enjoy a delicious drink and pastry while you wait for the silos to open!

I loved the classy vintage feel of the coffee shop with the green and gold accents plus every drink we tried was amazing. I highly recommend the “1905”!

Silos Baking Co.

The most delicious treats come out of the Magnolia silos bakery and you will probably have to wait in line for a while. But let me tell you, if you’re a sweets lover like me, it’s SO worth it!

Both times we’ve been we’ve waited in line for at least 30 – 45 minutes. There was already a long line when we first arrived at 9am, which is when they open.

The first time we went we had the pleasure of meeting Joanna’s mom while waiting in line, which was so fun!

As of this posting they give you a QR code to scan while you’re waiting so you can browse the treats and make your decision before reaching the front.

We’ve tried just about all of the cupcakes and cookies from Magnolia at the Silos bakery at this point and you can’t go wrong! The cinnamon rolls are delightful, as well!

Magnolia Market Store and Common Area

The Magnolia Market store was one of the first to open on the silo grounds. It offers home goods like cutting boards, faux florals, dishes, wall decor, candle holders, their classic t-shirts (think #demoday) and more!

They even have a shipping center so you can mail your purchases home if needed!

Walk out behind the store and you’ll find the common area where kids can run around and friends can play games. Our boys loved tossing the football with their dad!

They also have a stage where they hold concerts and other fun events!

Food Trucks

Located next to the common area are the food trucks! They have over 10 trucks offering a variety of food, snacks and drinks!

From BBQ to gourmet grilled cheese, snow cones and sweet tea, there’s something for everyone! Take it to go or snag a picnic table and enjoy with friends and family!

Check out the current food truck selection HERE

Magnolia Seed & Supply

Also one of the original shops on the property, Magnolia Seed & Supply is flanked by beautiful raised garden beds as you make your way to the store.

You’ll find terra cotta pots and other cute planters, as well as seeds, gardening supplies, clothing and more!

The Findery

Also located across the street from the silos is The Findery, a rustic farmhouse style home decor store that I fell in love with!

Cozy furniture, beautifully worded signs, a variety of shelf decor and wall hangings, it was the perfect mixture of vintage and farmhouse. The best part? You can also shop them online!

Check out their online store HERE!

Little Shop on Bosque

See where it all began! The Little Shop on Bosque was Jo’s first shop and it’s fun to see Magnolia’s origins!

Now the shop offers discounted and clearance home decor and if you’ve been to the silos they give you an additional discount! Definitely worth checking out!

Harp Design Company

Of course we all know Clint Harp, Jo’s go-to for custom furniture builds! Well not only can you visit his shop, you can see the house Chip and Jo fixed up for him and his family right next door!

Fabled Bookshop and Cafe

If you love reading and coffee, this adorable bookshop is for you! Located on 4th street close to the Magnolia Silos, it’s a must-see for any book-lover!

We enjoyed the quaint cafe and the adorable children’s section where they had recreated the wardrobe from the Chronicles of Narnia!

We each found a book to take home and will definitely visit this shop again!

Antique Shopping

Other places to go in Waco include antique shops! If you enjoy antiquing, there are tons of local antique shops to choose from including ones Jo visits on the show! You’ll want to visit the Cedar Chest, Junque in the Trunk, Laverty’s and more!

Baylor Sports

Home to the Baylor Bears, Waco is proud of their college sports! Depending on the season you can take in a football, basketball, or baseball game and enjoy one of the rowdiest student sections around!

Parks, Fishing and more!

Want to get outdoors? There are tons of lakes to fish, paths to hike, and parks to bike and play at in and around the city of Waco!

So, if you’re looking for a fun getaway for the family and you’re a fan of the show, you will love Magnolia Market at the Silos and everything else Waco has to offer! My family had so much fun and we’ll definitely visit again!
